| Nikola Kyosev and Silviya
Mihaylova first met in year 2000 at the National School of Music and Dance Art
‘Dobrin Petkov’ (NSMDA) in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where they were both studying at
the time. After being close friends for years they decided to perform together
and so they start working as a duo in 2006 when Silviya was in her senior year
at the school. A year and a half later, they both continued their education at
The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly known as the Royal Scottish
Academy for Music in Drama) in Glasgow and so did their duo. In 2010 Nikola and
Silviya won first prize in the Recital category at the North London Festival of
Music, Drama and Dance. A few months later they performed at The Fringe
Festival in Edinburgh and in the same year the duo was accepted into Live Music
Now! Scotland Scheme where they have the chance of bringing the joy and
inspiration of live music to those who have limited access to conventional
music-making.
The duo takes
regular part in festivals around Scotland, including The Fringe and Young at
Heart Festival, and has been performing around Scotland, England, Bulgaria, and
Grand Canaria, where they had Radio Broadcast and concert at Gran Canaria
Conservatoire. Their latest performance was in Mumbai, India, where they gave
recital at Mehli Mehta Music Foundation.
